The Rover has a 5 DOF robotic arm that was custom built and design to meet the unique requirements presented by the University Rover Challenge. Because of the complicated nature of the arm, we are constantly working to improve it.

Currently the arm uses brushed motors, gearboxes, and incremental encoders, and we are looking at ways to make control both more compact and more intuitive for the end user.
